Whether you have lived in your home for a month or years you can always find things that you can PURGE!

The best way to tackle an overflowing closet is just to start pulling things out, any and everything that is just thrown in there.

When doing this start making piles that you will be able to tackle easily. Perhaps start with a pile for all of your shoes that you will be able to later match up and see which are out of style or you no longer wear. Make separate piles for bags/purses and even clothes that are not hung-up.

Once you have everything sorted into….yes, PILES…dive in and start purging. Look at each thing and decide if you are still loving it, if you can donate or throw it out.

These are all things that we were able to do with our amazing client. She really was awesome to work with.
Once we moved everything out of the closet she was motivated to start purging.

Next is getting those hanging clothes in order. There are few ways to do this but we went for separating clothes into categories. She went to work putting all her workout tops in one section, followed by casual tops in another, dressier ones next to them and long-sleeved in a section of their own. This allows her to go straight for a specific piece without having to sort through all of her clothes.

If your closet space is tiny opt for hanging your shoes on an open wall. Our client already had a handy unit hung to do just that. After hanging up her clothes we then moved her shoes back in. This allowed more floor space toward the back of the closet to put those winter shoes and others that are getting less use.

Don’t be afraid to get in there and tackle that chaos. By tidying it up you’ll never despise your closet again!!!
